HONORS CREDIT for BAND
An "A" in the regular band or jazz band class is worth 4 academic points; an "A" in Honors Band or Honors Jazz Band is worth 4.5 points. Students earn that extra point by fulfilling the requirements listed below. (Note that there are different requirements listed for band and jazz band, plus different requirements for fall and spring semesters.)
Be sure you are enrolled in the class called Honors Band or Honors Jazz Band. Honors-credit enrollment must be completed no later than the end of the 2nd week of school. It is important to note that honors credit is only a full-year option. Students are not allowed to add or drop an honors-level class mid-year. If students have any questions about whether or not they are enrolled in an Honors-level course, they can check their report card or parent portal.
For students taking Marching Band as PE: They can't get honors credit that semester, but they can for concert band (second semester). Also, 0-period honors band does not require a paper for honors credit because they are coming in before school starts to practice for competitions.
